Michele Hansen, a women’s shelter executive director, has joined up with Western University researchers to produce the Ontario Shelter Research Project, with the hope of obtaining more government funding.

According to the research, many shelter currently need to fundraise for over one-third of their yearly budgets, as they support more women than they have beds for.
Western University journalist hears the incredible story of a woman on her way to recovery after a 14-year relationship with the Huron Women’s Shelter in Goderich, Ont.

The aim of the documentary: to illustrate the true nature of women’s aid at shelters, and the true scope of their work.
