Teenage Dream

Miss Teen London

Susie Hill

As part of my pageant radio documentary I interviewed Miss teen London, Kelsey Johnson.

Kelsey is no stereotypical teenage girl. Not only is she a beauty queen, she also has lofty ambitions. And unlike many pageant princesses, these ambitions do not include acting, dancing or modeling. Kelsey is a second-year student at McMaster University where she studies health and political science. She hopes to work in the glamorous field of health administration.

My  documentary, “A Tale of two pageants” explores the question, how young is too young for pageant competition? Kelsey began competing at the age of 18 and believes that the Toddler and Tiara type pageants can have detrimental effects on young girls.
